Properly aligned, straight teeth are not only attractive, but they are also healthier and more comfortable. Crooked teeth and an improper bite can lead to long-term dental problems that can become painful and expensive to fix. This is why Dr. Kenneth Ingber and his team of dental professionals are pleased to offer Invisalign — removable, clear teeth aligners for our patients in Washington, D.C. Custom made for your teeth and your specific needs, Invisalign is more attractive and comfortable than traditional metal braces since they can be removed to make cleaning your teeth and eating much easier. If you are interested in getting straighter teeth with the Invisalign system, schedule a consultation at Ingber Dental to learn more.
About Invisalign Teen
Why is Invisalign Teen different than Invisalign? Many patients are wary of allowing their teen the responsibility of expensive aligners for their orthodontic treatment. It is a huge investment in time and money, but our dental team is aware of these factors when it comes to teenage patients. Invisalign Teen has three great features that ensure your teen ends up with a straight smile:
- Compliance indicators: There is a spot on the back part of the aligners that wears off with use. We will be able to tell if your teen is not wearing the aligners enough or if he or she is wearing them at all. This will keep the teenagers accountable for wearing the aligners 20 – 22 hours a day and keep them on schedule. Non-compliance issues mean your adolescent will be in treatment for a longer amount of time.
- Eruption tabs: The makers of Invisalign Teen understand that not all our adolescent patients will have in their last molars or "wisdom teeth." They have created the product with eruption tabs to leave space for the last molars. This is so they can grow in the right place without overcrowding the other teeth. Normal Invisalign does not come with this feature.
- Extra replacement aligners: We plan for mishaps and lost aligners by building six replacement aligners to your teen's treatment plan. Accidents happen, and we all misplace things from time to time so contact our office in Washington, D.C. if you have any concerns or need a replacement aligner.
"I am so glad that I chose Dr. Porvaznik for my Invisalign treatment. My case was not an easy one, so it took some time, but every step of the way I felt like I was in great hands - both with him and with his assistant who handles impressions and scans. Dr. P is a very smart, personable dentist who seems to love his work and who has very high standards for end results. He carefully listened to my questions and concerns and offered thorough explanations of options and his recommendations. The office is very well managed and staff are courteous. I never had trouble making an appointment and never had to wait. I am extremely pleased with my Invisalign results. When a different dentist at a different practice subsequently caused some new alignment problems when putting in new crowns, Dr. Porvaznik went above and beyond to help me resolve them. I highly recommend him as someone who is both talented and trustworthy."- L.S. / Yelp / Jan 08, 2016
"My review is for Dr. Charles Porvaznik. He did my Invisalign treatment and I could not be happier with the results and the whole experience. I did my research and I had consults from 3 different dentists in DC/Virginia before choosing Dr. Porvaznik. He is a true perfectionist (what you want in this line of work!), totally professional and he is so friendly. He has pride in his work and you can tell he really cares about his patients. I also found the price to be quite reasonable when compared to the other quotes I got. If you're thinking about doing it, go with him as you know you'll be in good hands. I couldn't recommend him more. Also, he usually runs right on time with his appointments which is awesome."- C.C. / Yelp / Feb 26, 2017
"I have been going to Dr. Porvaznik for all my dental needs since 2007. Two cleanings a year, wisdom teeth evaluation and then finally, the long anticipated Invisalign treatment. It is no question that Dr. P is extremely qualified as a general dentist but I'm going to focus particularly on my Invisalign treatment. I knew I was going to receive Invisalign treatment from Dr. P for years before I finally pulled the trigger in 2013 (due to finances/timing). Dr. P is one of the best in this line of business and is also extremely sensible in terms of affordability. He truly seems passionate about his work and each case is equally special to him. I feel that the investment I made was worth each and every penny. You can trust Dr P with your money and receive guaranteed top notch results. I am now 99% complete with my treatment and cannot believe how amazing my smile looks (not to sound conceited!). We are only working out minor kinks with my overbite and this is another indication that Dr P truly cares about his patients and won't settle for anything less than perfection. The invisalign has made the world of a difference in my smile and has given me the ultimate confidence. Aside from aesthetics, I truly believe my hygiene has gotten better since my teeth are no longer crowded. I would recommend invisalign by Dr. P to anyone. I will post pictures of my teeth once I am 100% complete, though if I took pictures right now, you probably would already consider it perfect! I would also like to give a shout-out to the staff, as well as Nicole in particular who has additionally made all of my visits so pleasant due to her passion for this work as well and her awesome personality :)"- A.K. / Yelp / Dec 31, 2013
"I've been coming to Dr. Ingber for a few years and have had nothing but a positive experience with him, the other doctors, and the administrative staff. On the last point, I've had to cancel/reschedule at the last minute a few times, and the staff has always been great about finding me a new appointment. I've never been charged a late cancellation fee (I think they have a policy in place, but it's not enforced if you explain nicely). I also get various email/text/call reminders starting about a week before my appointment, which is helpful since most of us choose to forget that the dentist exists between teeth cleanings. In terms of the dentistry itself, I've never felt like I'm being upcharged for problems that don't exist. Granted, I have good teeth that haven't needed much beyond routine cleanings, but I've found Dr. Ingber to be attentive, thorough, and quick. I once brought up a slight shift in my bottom teeth, which had a permanent retainer on them at the time. He recommended an appointment with Dr. Porvaznik, which I was able to get on the books for the following week. Dr. Porvaznik followed the same pattern: helpful, friendly, and not pushy at all. He quickly discovered that the retainer wire was starting to lift from the back of my teeth, creating the uneven pressure that was causing the shift. He explained to me that this issue is why he doesn't recommend permanent retainers (which my old ortho had installed about 10 years ago and declared as something that would keep my teeth straight for life...guess not). He suggested doing a series of Invisalign retainers to correct the movement and then a final version to maintain the straightened teeth. Since I've invested a lot in and care quite a bit about my teeth, I agreed with this plan, expecting the additional visits and progressive retainers to cost me upwards of a thousand dollars. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the whole process came to just $200 and accomplished exactly what I wanted. I'm surprised and perplexed by some of the one-star reviews; perhaps the staff has turned over or I've simply never encountered the problematic individuals. I also know that dental patients aren't always pleasant themselves, so for potential newcomers: I'd suggest trying for yourself and drawing your own conclusions."- J.M. / Yelp / Jun 26, 2017
"I've been going to Dr. P for 8 years. He did my invisalign and held my hand through my first cavity ever (for some reason it was very emotional for me- I took it hard). Dr. P. is very personable and always remembers details about me to ask about. I give him 4 stars becuase as usual, the office staff (not dental techs, they're great too) leave a lot to be desired. There is high turnover. Once I had a billing problem (they billed something wrong and insurance was giving me the run around blah blah) and I actually had to email Dr. Ingber (the owner of the practice I guess) because the staff was making me so frustrated I was ready to say to hell with the whole practice. Good help really is hard to find."- B.M. / Yelp / Dec 14, 2010
There are several factors that can determine your teeth alignment: genetics, thumb-sucking as a child, the loss of a tooth or teeth, and trauma to your face. Dental misalignment can lead to other oral health problems, including dental malocclusion (a bad bite), abnormal enamel wear, trouble speaking and chewing, as well as toothaches and jaw pain. If any of these issues are identified during your annual exam, we may recommend an orthodontic treatment, like Invisalign.
The Invisalign system is wonderful for both adults and teens who want straighter teeth without the pain, hassle, and appearance of braces. While they do need to be worn for most of the time, Invisalign trays can be taken out for eating and brushing your teeth, as well as for special events and playing sports. Far more discreet than traditional metal braces that cut and poke your cheeks, your friends and family will typically not know that you are wearing your Invisalign tray.
What To Expect
Your first set of Invisalign trays will be created using digital impressions at Ingber Dental. Once they are ready, you will return to get your first sets along with care instructions. You need to wear your aligners at least 20 – 22 hours each day for the system to be effective, ideally removing them only for eating and cleaning. Over time, you will go to the next set of trays as they gently move your teeth into alignment. You should schedule follow-ups about every 4 – 6 weeks at Ingber Dental to have the fit of your aligners assessed and to have more digital impressions taken so your next aligners can be made. The length of time that you use Invisalign trays will vary based on the original position of your teeth and your cosmetic goals, but most patients wear aligners for about one year.
When your teeth are in alignment, it is crucial to stop your teeth from moving back to their old position. Invisalign's Vivera retainers are made with the same comfortable materials to help keep your teeth in their new position after your treatment is complete. Each retainer is custom made at the Invisalign dental laboratory based on digital impressions taken once your treatment is complete. We will talk to you about how many hours a day you should wear your retainer, plus how to care for it once it is sent from the lab. We will also continue to watch your teeth alignment and bite during your annual exams to ensure your teeth remain in the correct position.
For most patients, some of their Invisalign treatment cost is covered by dental insurance. Our office will confirm your benefits and calculate your out-of-pocket costs. Ingber Dental accepts several methods of payment for patients who do not have dental insurance. In your consultation, we can discuss an estimate of costs and ways to make your treatment affordable for you, including flexible payment plans and medical financing.
