Overview

A quick way to improve your smile and hide chipped, crooked, decayed, or stained teeth is with porcelain veneers at Ingber Dental. Dental veneers are light shells made out of porcelain that can be bonded to the front of your teeth to improve the overall look of your smile. Offering customized and minimal-prep veneers, Dr. Kenneth Ingber and his experienced dental team can help improve the color, size, shape, or length of your teeth. Schedule an appointment at our Washington, D.C. office to learn more about porcelain veneers and decide if they are right for your needs.

Best Candidates

Porcelain veneers can be used to quickly mask chips and stains on your enamel, improve misaligned or worn down teeth, and fix teeth that are poorly shaped or spaced. At Ingber Dental, your porcelain veneers will be custom made to fit comfortably over your teeth for an attractive and natural look. At your consultation, your goals and expectations will be understood so your treatment plan can be customized. We will also find out if you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers by checking your overall oral health. You should not have signs of periodontal disease, or habitually clench your jaw and grind your teeth (called bruxism).

What To Expect

As soon as you have developed your unique treatment plan, digital or physical impressions of your teeth will be taken. Your porcelain veneers might be produced in our office while you wait, or the impressions can be sent to a dental laboratory where your custom veneers will be crafted out of high-quality porcelain material. When your porcelain veneers are ready, a small amount of enamel will be removed from the front of your teeth. This creates space for the veneers and improves the bond for a more natural result that lasts a long time. Once your veneers are bonded, minor adjustments can be made so your veneers are comfortable.

Recovery

Since getting veneers normally does not require anesthesia, you should be able to continue your daily activities after your appointment. You may experience some sensitivity to hot and cold food for a few days, but this should subside naturally. Your veneers should be cleaned, like your natural teeth, with regular brushing and flossing. While porcelain veneers are more resistant to stains compared to your natural enamel, you should still avoid staining foods and drinks to keep your smile bright. To avoid harming your veneers, you should not chew on hard objects, such as ice or your fingernails. Continue to make dental exams and cleanings at Ingber Dental so we can monitor the condition of your porcelain veneers, teeth, gums, and overall oral health. One of our dental professionals will let you know if your cosmetic veneers have to be repaired or replaced.

Insurance Coverage

Veneers are a cosmetic procedure so they are usually not paid by dental insurance. Ingber Dental does accept many payment methods, including medical financing, to make your treatment easier to afford. During your consultation, your treatment will be customized to fit your goals and budget. A member of our financial team will go over an estimate for your treatment and explain your payment options.
